From Donna, on January 29, 2010:

Jury selection is scheduled for the morning of February 8, 2010, and the earliest a trial could start is that afternoon.

From Donna, on
July 18, 2009:

Despite overwhelming odds Michael continues to improve. Speech and physical therapy have been renewed. Please continue to keep him in your prayers...he's come a long way since 8/6/07..but we still have a long way to go. God Bless each of you

thanks,

Donna

Mike continues to struggle with respiratory problems - Received from Donna 17 October 2008:

After spending last night in the ER Michael was admitted to the hospital early this morning and we got into his room about 6:15 am. After numerous test today  its been confirmed that he has pneumonia in the left lung.  He's  on two antibiotics (the same as last time) which are strong and will hopefully take care of the pneumonia.  we're on the 6th floor again.

Please continue to keep him in your prayers

thank you

Love, Donna

Received from Donna 22 September 2008:

Michael was admitted to DCH on 9/15/08...he now has been diagnosed  with two highly resistant infections(one is resistant to 13 out of 15 antibiotics) and is on 4 strong antibiotics.   He is responding but we have been told that he will be in the hospital at least for the rest of the week.  I can best be reached by cell phone

Saturday they put in a pick line which isn't working.

please continue to keep him in your prayers

Thanks,

Donna

As of 30 June 2008, Donna reports that Mike has been re-admitted to the hospital since June 19, 2008 due to collapsing lungs. He has just been diagnosed with pneumonia, and is expected to remain in the hospital for at least another week.

Donna uses this lift to manuever Mike from his bed into a
wheelchair.  He sits up every day.

Mike has 5 meals a day through his feeding tube, and his medications have to be crushed, dissolved in water, and administered through the tube.  The speech therapy assists Mike with swallowing.  He is able to eat half a popsicle now.

As of May 2008, Mike qualifies for 8 weeks of speech therapy.  Insurance has stopped paying for Physical Therapy.

Mike is now at home, under Donna's care (24/7/365).  There are no nursing homes in Tuscaloosa that will take a patient with a trache.  The nearest nursing home that would accept Mike as a patient is 80 miles from the Kistner's home.
